Job Description:What We're Looking ForBaylor University's Financial Services department is seeking a full-time Staff Director of Gift and Investment Accounting to join the team. Additionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

- Strong accounting skills and experience, including knowledge of accounting for complex investment vehicles and endowments
- Analytical skills and attention to detail with accuracy.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple levels within organization; organize work to meet timetables and deadlines (performance under pressure); work independently with minimal supervision; and coordinate a variety of activities.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact in difficult situations requiring tact and diplomacy with a diverse population.
- Non-profit, university or college experience preferred
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, eight years of relevant work experience, and an active Christian faith are required. A Master's degree, accounting or investment related certifications, CPA and ten or more years of relevant work experience are preferred.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Remote or Hybrid work will be considered for this position with ability to travel to Waco as needed.What You Will Do - Directs the accounting for the University's non-operating funds including:
- Review, approval, and establishment of new designations in coordination with University departments and University Advancement Office
- Preparation, review and/or approval of related journal vouchers
- Preparation and/or review of investment and gift reporting
- Monthly endowment balances report
- Monthly endowment analysis reports
- Monthly endowment changes reports
- Monthly annuity trial balance
- Monthly restricted scholarship trial balance report
- Quarterly restricted non-scholarship trial balance report
- Conducts and/or oversees the review, analysis, reconciliation and correction of transactions and balances in the nonoperating accounts.
- Oversees the University's compliance with endowment and annuity agreements.
- Maintains endowment distribution worksheet in compliance with endowment agreements
- Provides book and market value, distribution, and expenditure amounts to Advancement for annual endowment donor reporting
- Performs secondary review and approval of journal entries, as needed
- Directs the University's gift accounting functions including:
- Establish and ensure proper documentation of gifts according to financial accounting standards
- Includes overseeing brokerage account and determining/communicating gift value for stock gifts
- Coordinates the gift accounting process with the University Advancement Office
- Posting journal vouchers from the advancement system to the financial system
- Review and coordinate preparation of monthly outstanding pledge report and monthly gift report
- Prepare monthly gift projection reports for various capital projects
- Oversee reconciliation of binding promises between advancement and financial systems
- Oversee reconciliation of total gifts between advancement and financial systems
- Development and implementation of effective control procedures and adequate documentation
- Periodically review gift documentation to verify proper accounting treatment
- Directs the University's investment accounting and reporting functions including:
- Maintain a close working relationship with the University Investment Office
- Review and/or approval of investment journal vouchers and receipts
- Review and/or preparation of investment allocation reports
- Coordinate the investment accounting process with the University Investment Office, BNY Mellon, Highground Advisors and various bank trust departments.

- Prepare monthly reconciliation of Baylor University Fund (BUF) balances with BNY Mellon custodial and sub-fund accounting reports
- Prepare and coordinate the monthly transmittal of funds into BUF with BNY Mellon
- Prepare, coordinate and record monthly distribution of funds from BUF with University investment office and BNY Mellon
- Prepare monthly reconciliation of balances and record changes with Highground Advisors accounting reports
- Review and record monthly distribution from Highground Advisors
- Oversee adjustments to periodic statements from bank trust departments
- Prepare, coordinate, review and approve monthly market value adjustments to BUF sub-fund report, Highground reports, bank trust statements, stock, bond and real estate holdings
- Development and implementation of effective control procedures and adequate documentation
- Periodically review investment statements to verify proper accounting and financial statement disclosure.
- Oversee and/or prepare the calculation and recording of endowment and investment earnings estimates for budgeting and planning purposes.
- Maintain and update endowment model
- Maintain and update BUF dividend calculation according to endowment spending policy
- Review and project endowment distributions for individual endowment/expendable accounts and communicate projected amounts to budget office and student financial aid
- Oversee and/or prepare audit workpapers and financial statement footnotes for gifts, endowment, and investments, and coordinate gift and investment accounting matters with external auditors
- Prepare and maintain annual investment rollforward documentation
- Assist with annual preparation for Form 990 including:
- Maintain and update K-1 tracker worksheet for information received from various BUF managers as it relates to unrelated business income
- Provide endowment, deferred gift, and investment information related to various sections of Form 990
