About the Role: DKG is seeking an experienced Finance Director to lead and manage the financial operations of our international organization, educational foundation, and headquarters building. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a mission-driven environment and wants to make a meaningful impact by supporting women educators around the world.

The director will oversee budgeting, compliance, reporting, payroll, benefits administration, investment oversight, and financial systems—all while working closely with the Executive Director and supporting our global membership. The Finance Director also supervises the accounting team and serves as a key resource for our state and chapter leaders. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the financial operations of the Society, Foundation, and headquarters, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance.
• Develop and present financial reports to internal leadership, board members, and external agencies.
• Coordinate and manage annual audits and tax filings; ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
• Oversee the development of the biennial budget in partnership with the Executive Director and Finance Committee; monitor budget performance and recommend adjustments as needed.
• Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions, ensuring timely processing and reconciliations.
• Administer employee benefit programs and maintain accurate payroll and benefits records.
• Serve as the main point of contact for investment managers, auditors, insurance agents, tax preparers, and banking institutions.
• Support and advise state organization and chapter treasurers; assist with questions related to financial compliance and tax-exempt status.
• Maintain and improve financial systems including QuickBooks; automate recurring entries, reconcile accounts, and manage depreciation schedules.
• Contribute to strategic planning by researching and recommending updates to financial systems, databases, and electronic payment options.
• Assist with special projects such as planned giving programs, facilities planning, and the reinstatement of chapters.
• Participate in Society events and meetings, which may require domestic and international travel.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in financial leadership, ideally in nonprofit/association sectors
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, filters, lookups) and QuickBooks experience required
• Understanding of nonprofit compliance and reporting standards
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
